This low profile base plate is a simple and light base plate for the current popular cameras, such as Sony FS7, Sony A7 series, Canon C100/C300/C500 etc. It attaches to a camera with a 3/8"-16 or 1/4"-20 screw. The base plate features 15mm diameter and 60mm spaced rod holes that allows you to mount a follow focus, matte box, lens support or other accessories. It is specifically designed to keep the weight down and let the operator use the FS7's inbuilt shoulder pad, minimizing the amount of extra weight and gear needed for a rig. With 1/4''-20 & 3/8''-16 threads on bottom, this base plate can be attached to any tripod.

small Rig U-base 1674 one complaint

Posted by Unknown on 24th Sep 2016

I like its attachment to the camera and the integrated rod sleeves but the base doesn't allow a two screw attachment to my Sachtler plate thus allowing the camera to twist while on the tripod. If there was accommodation for the alignment pin it would be great.

    sturdy and versatile

I am using this to connect my versaframe cage with my manfrotto baseplate and it works great and I was able to connect the camera and baseplate very snug, ready for rails and accessories

    Great product!

It fits Sony FS7, it is compatible with sachtler QR plate. It can be screwed to camera with 2 screws.
It fits Canon C100, 300 if is reverted with narrow side oriented to front of camera. Then it can be screwed with 2 screws.
Its very light and very well machined. When screwed with 2 screws rubber pads can be removed to allow more compatible distance for Matteboxes that are connected to 15mm rails.

    The best

I also have the Zacuto baseplate but I like this much more, it cost a fraction and it's lighter, plus the rods clamping system is universal with any normal 15mm rod, while zacuto only works with their rods (screw in rods). The only improvement possible is to make the correct distance of the two Canon C100/300 screw holes so that it will be possible to screw it to the camera with two screws (one small, one big) and avoid rotation of the baseplate around the single screw axis. CoolLCD baseplate also allow to use longer 15mm rods to have accessories support not only under and in front of the lens but also on the back of the camera ! (not possible with Zacuto expensiive baseplate)

    Awesome gear for my FS7

Solid piece of kit, feels well made and fits nicely on the bottom of the FS7. The knob that tightens down the rod on the camera right side interferes a little bit with the Sony side grip arm's range of motion...its still workable, just takes a little finesse to move the arm into position.
