It provides added protection, stability, and mounting options needed for video production use.
The kit consists of a camera cage, a railblock, a pair of 15mm rod(2inch) and an easy plate. All of the kit components are machined from aluminum for strength and durability.

I use this as part of my "rig" with a Sony A7 II. I have good access to the battery door and the side connectors for HDMI. As long as you are not expecting jewelry, you will be happy with the quality. The surfaces and corners are smooth and slightly rounded. The surface appeared to be painted with a black enamel. All of the holes that I have tried ran smooth. I threw out the bottom rail clamps because I use it on my own rail system with follow focus and matte box. I also attach a 7" flat field monitor to the cage with a short arm.
